Easy-Peasy!
All you have to do is create and host a garage gang and you don't pay for your dance classes!
If you don't have a place to host you can use our garage, and still not pay for your dance classes!
You need 8 people to make this happen!
.
Baby Boomers Rock and Rule is a roaming gang of fun Boomers and Non-Boomers who use Boomerancing as an excuse to get together, hangout, party, and dance in the beach communities!.
It's stepping four times, alternating feet, left-right-left-right for men, right-left-right-left for women, and if that's too complicated 1-2-3-4 for both. If you can do this, and everybody can, you can dance to all four speeds of music!
Boomerancing is the dance that Albert and T-Bell used when they were hired as party-sparks to entertain and teach convention attendees how to dance, right after dinner, and before the music started. They had one hour to accomplish this feat with non-dancers, and they knocked it out of the park each time. They got re-hired year after year to do it again. It didn't have a name back then, it was what it was, but "Boomerance" is what we're calling it now!
In the following answers every word is true and accurate (you can Google it!). However some of the benefits sound too good to be true, and some folks may think it’s a sales pitch for snake oil, but it isn’t!
We’ll keep the answers simple, semi-short, and to the point.
Boomerancing can have many benefits for people of all ages and skill levels, including physical, mental, and social benefits:
On the physical, boomerancing can improve cardiovascular fitness, strengthen muscles and joints, increase flexibility and balance, and burn calories. It can also help with weight management, posture, and body awareness.
On the mental, boomerancing can reduce stress and anxiety, increase alertness and concentration, and improve cognitive function. It can also boost self-confidence and
self-esteem, and some say it can help delay Alzheimer's.
On the social, boomerancing can help improve social skills, expand your social circle, and build a sense of community. It can also provide opportunities for connection and enhance friendships. Dancing with a partner can be especially fun and have many benefits.
So, boomerancing is a multifaceted activity that offers a wealth of physical, mental, and social benefits.
Reach out to your fun loving friends and see who’s up for an adventure. When you have a group of 8 or more who are willing to give this a try you’ve done it!
Let us know by using the contact feature of this website, or you can call or text us, and we’ll coordinate with you to firm up final details.
Also, as group leader, you will have done a bit more work coordinating and for that you will get a significant discount.
If you don’t want to start a group of your own but want to join a garage gang there are several ways to join a group.
Contact us and let us know that you’re looking for a group to join, and we can see if there’s a match we can suggest.
Or you could ask your friends if they know of a group that needs to grow their numbers!
Either route you take will almost certainly guarantee meeting new fun friends in the process.
YES!!! If you don’t have a place to meet, you can use ours!
We are centrally located in the Bay Park area - close to Tio Leo’s.
Yes, but you can’t complain when we play music from The Rolling Stones or Carole King Ballads!
NO, no partner needed!
The garage gangs will change partners every few minutes to improve leading and/or following. With changing partners you’ll be part of the rotation and a partner is not necessary!
Whenever you’re ready to start! We try to work with your schedule. If it’s mid-month and you have a group who are excited then we can start right away, even if your first month
is only 2 weeks long!
Groups meet once a week for an hour each time. It is the same day/time each meeting. We schedule one month at a time so there is no long term commitment, you can decide each month if you want to continue or not. But be forewarned, we have several month-to-month groups currently, and one has been meeting for over 30 years!
Classes are one hour long, and are held once a week!
A minimum of 8.
In our garage we can easily accommodate group classes with 8-20 people.
If your location can handle more, 40 would be the upper limit.
We ask you to commit to only one month at a time, which is usually 4 meetings.
But if you really hate us and don’t want to continue after one meeting we will understand and handle it on a case-by-case basis!
For a group class of 8 or more the cost is $12 per person per hour. So (let me pull out my calculator) for an average month of 4 weeks it would be $48 per person per month.
HOWEVER if you are a group leader with 8 or more members you get a significant discount!
Yes, be casual and comfortable!
We will be dancing on grass, in garages, and other surfaces, so wear what you would be comfortable in if you were to take a half hour walk.
We won’t be dancing on a floating maple dance floor, so dance shoes are unnecessary and unwanted.
Wear jeans, tees, board shorts, casual shirts, sneakers, etc., if you want to style it up wear Rocker T-Shirts, Hawaiian Shirts, and Converse All Stars. But you don’t have to dress that fancy! Just be comfortable and sport something that suits your personality!
The only NO is no flip flops (too unstable) or bare feet (it hurts to get stepped on).
One dance with the same moves for everyone, and one line dance.
You can Boomerance to Foxtrot music, Cha-Cha, Freestyle, Swing, Country, Hip-Hop, etc., so there’s no need to learn 16 different dances.
This is why we are so excited to share “Boomerancing” with you, and show you how you can learn this one dance and adapt it to all speeds and genres of music.
Negatory - That would be a NO!
